What is the cost of stress?

As organisations have become more competitive the pressure on staff to perform has become greater and more stressful.

Are you aware that home, social and work pressure will affect both an individual and their level of performance? Attempts have been made to separate personal stress from organisational stress. In practice this is not a very easy task, and links between the two are pervasive. If a bucket of water represents an individual's stress, and if the overflow of the bucket represents emotional illness, it may not matter too much whether the final cupful which causes overflow comes from home or work.

Stress can be DANGEROUS -
Lack of concentration can cause accidents

Stress can be COSTLY -
Indecision may lose an important contract. Key people may have to leave because of ill health

Stress can be DAMAGING -
Irritability may give your company or organisation a poor image
